UPDATE: A man and a woman were critically injured in a motorcycle crash Saturday night at Roop and Fairview at around 10:30 p.m.
Two Care Flight helicopters have transported a man, believed to be the driver, and woman passenger, to Renown Medical Center in Reno. The motorcycle crashed into a truck going at around 75 mph.
Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong said the investigation is ongoing and possibly involves the same motorcyclist that led Carson City deputies on three chases earlier in the evening through Carson City.
During each instance, patrol officers shut down the pursuit because speeds had become too dangerous, said Furlong. He said the two are critically injured and may not live.
Traffic at Roop and Fairview was closed for several hours.
In one of the earlier pursuits, a motorcycle with a passenger went down Carson Street to Robinson to Saliman to Highway 50 East. That pursuit ended around Robinson Street with reports that the motorcycle, which was reported to have a loud exhaust, was seen traveling at a high rate of speed down Highway 50. Officers tried to intercept but it sped away.
